Bartlesville Public Library – Serving Our Community with Excellence!

The Bartlesville Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 pm  Monday, July 10, in the Library’s upstairs meeting room. The public is invited.
At 6:30 pm, Rita Bibles, an experienced genealogist, will discuss “Where Do You Start Your Research”. She will explain how you should begin with yourself and work backwards. She will also explain how to use a pedigree chart and why you will want to complete the family group sheets.
At about 7:15 pm, experienced genealogists will be on hand to answer questions from members and guests concerning ancestry search efforts. If time permits, a tutorial will be presented on the use of Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org and Findagrave.com.

If you are looking for assistance in tracking your family information, experienced genealogists will be available on Saturday, May 20 from 9 to 4 in the Local and Family History Room of the Bartlesville Public Library. Volunteer genealogists will be there to guide you, whether you are beginning family research or need suggestions to further your research. It is helpful to bring the family information you already have, along with the questions or family information you need answered. All genealogy assistance is a free service provided by the Bartlesville Genealogical Society.

The Bartlesville Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 on Monday evening, May 8, in the Bartlesville Public Library’s upstairs meeting room (Conference Room A). The public is invited.

During the 6:30 Beginner’s Corner portion of the meeting, Rita Bibles, an experienced genealogist, will discuss “The importance of using maps and visiting locations in your genealogical search”. At the second portion of the meeting, about 7:15, the guest speaker will be Nadine Hawke, Head of Reference Services at Bartlesville Public Library. She will discuss “Navigating the Local and Family History Map Collection for Your Family Research.” Those in attendance will learn about the maps in the library and how to use them for genealogical research, as well as the new restructuring of your Family History room at the library.
