If you are looking for assistance in tracking your family information, experienced genealogists will be available in the Local and Family History Room of the Bartlesville Public Library on Saturday, July 15 from 9 to 4. Volunteer genealogists will be there to guide you, whether you are beginning family research or need suggestions to further your research. It is helpful to bring the family information you already have, along with the questions or family information you need answered. All genealogy assistance is a free service provided by the Society.
Local business YOUR ESCAPE will be hosting a two-room escape competition titled “Race for the Cure” on Saturday July 22nd at the library located at 600 S Johnstone Avenue. Each room will be competing the other to find and assemble DNA strands in their attempt to find a cure for cancer. The rooms may have a max participant number of 10 people. There will be six hour-long sessions throughout the day. This is a great chance to experience an escape room at no charge!
Book your time slot NOW at the YOUR ESCAPE website: http://yourescape.net This is at the bottom of their homepage under “Special Event.”

We greatly appreciate your generous donations to the library of LEGOs and DUPLOs! Very soon, library staff will empty the booth and begin the process of cleaning and sorting the “bricks” so we can begin our monthly LEGO Club. Stay tuned!
The Bartlesville Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 pm Monday, July 10, in the Library’s upstairs meeting room. The public is invited.
At 6:30 pm, Rita Bibles, an experienced genealogist, will discuss “Where Do You Start Your Research”. She will explain how you should begin with yourself and work backwards. She will also explain how to use a pedigree chart and why you will want to complete the family group sheets.
At about 7:15 pm, experienced genealogists will be on hand to answer questions from members and guests concerning ancestry search efforts. If time permits, a tutorial will be presented on the use of Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org and Findagrave.com.
Movie Night is ON at the Pavilion! We will start the movie as soon as it’s dark enough inside the pavilion. Arvest will provide free popcorn and Kona Ice will have sno-cones for sale. See you there!
Our Lego donation booth is filling up! But we’re still humbly asking for your generous support thru Lego and Duplo donations for our future Lego Club. Next Friday, the 23rd, will be the last day to pour your donations into the booth (but we’ll still be taking donations after that). Many libraries have Lego programs already, and since this year’s theme for the Summer Reading Program is “Build a Better World”, what better time than now to start our own Lego program. We of course couldn’t do this without you, our patrons! And we are truly grateful for your generous support! Thank you!
