GEDmatch: Tier I Tools (GEDmatch, Part Two)

October 19 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Barbara J. Shoff, local author and genetic genealogist, will present a workshop called GEDmatch: Tier I Tools (GEDmatch, Part Two). To better accommodate people’s schedules, the workshop will be repeated four times and will be held in the Library’s meeting room C (near the Reference desk).

Tuesday, October 17

2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Thursday, October 19

2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Shoff will be covering a central topic in genetic genealogy: triangulation. Triangulation is how you find a group of matches who share the most recent common ancestor and ancestral lines. Triangulated Groups not only help you trace your lines further and faster than you would be able to do using traditional genealogical research methods, but also knocks down the proverbial brick walls and help you identify NPE’s (non-parental event) or possible misattributed lineage in your family trees.

These workshops are free and open to the public. Each workshop will be limited to 20 people, so registration is required. Please contact the Local and Family History Department at 918-338-4167 or email Sherry at  to schedule the class slot that works best for you.
