The Bartlesville Public Library’s Literacy Services is adding a new Yoga program instructed by Misty Pryor.

Misty is Group Fitness Certified through Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) Yoga Fit Teacher Training Level 1, 2, and 3. This yoga class is a flowing sequence of movements, in which the yoga postures, together with breathing, encourage balance, strength and calmness to the participant. This class is for all levels where modifications and adjustments are offered so that the beginning to intermediate students can develop flexibility and relaxation.

Classes will be held in the upstairs meeting room at the Bartlesville Public Library on Tuesday, July 10th at 5:30 p.m., July 17, at 6:00 p.m., July 23rd at 5:30 p.m., July 31, at 5:30 p.m., August 7 at 5:30 p.m., August 14 at 5:30 p.m., August 23, at 5:30 p.m. and August 28 at 5:30 p.m..

All Yoga Classes are free.


Mark Your Calendars! The Bartlesville Public Library and Literacy Services will host a Master Gardener program at 7 p.m. on June 7.

Trained and certified Washington County Master Gardeners will give a classroom presentation on essential information for healthy soil in the Library’s Meeting Room A, located at 600 S. Johnstone Ave. The focus of the class will be the preparation of soil before planting and its importance for healthy plants.

We will then tour the library flower beds and discuss the various plants used. The Master Gardeners will
demonstrate the sowing of seeds in the gardens and talk about proper planting tips.

June 13th, 20th, and 27th, July 11th, 18th, 25th, August 1st and 8th Refit/Dance Fitness is returning Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Bartlesville Public Library Meeting Room A.

In our last cooking class, Mike Minnich taught us how to cook pork chops with reduction sauce. The results of his fine cooking was the sample of delicious pork chops with a cranberry reduction and an orange reduction sauce.

Chef Mike gave us some very good cooking instructions, including the surprising use of pans that are not coated with a non-stick coating. Not only did Chef Mike give us these instructions, he also showed us a technique that would make the cleaning of our skillet much easier.

On April 4th, at noon at the Bartlesville Public Library, Chef Mike will return to teach us some new ways to cook cauliflower. Chef Mike believes that cauliflower is one of the most underrated vegetables there are.
