How does the library decide what materials to buy?

Staff members who belong to our selection committee decide which items to purchase by analyzing library needs, the library's mission, the library budget, community interests, circulation records, and by reading reviews in several different periodicals for each item considered. Lists of classics and award winners are considered, as are patron requests.
